OTG – USB sticks for your smartphone

The manufacturers of smartphones and tablets largely do without a slot for micro-SD cards, which makes subsequent memory expansion hardly possible. At the same time, however, current devices produce photos and videos with ever higher resolution. USB sticks can be connected to the smartphone thanks to USB OTG. The Android operating system supports the USB OTG standard since Android 3.1. to connect your USB OTG-enabled smartphone with a USB stick. OTG-compatible USB sticks are supposed to transfer large amounts of data quickly and thus create space on the mobile device again. Corresponding USB sticks are equipped with both a conventional USB-A and a micro USB plug. The stick behaves like a normal flash drive on the computer and can be filled with data in Windows Explorer as usual. Once the stick is plugged into the Android smartphone and tablet, you can access the content via the file manager and open videos and music files in a player, for example.
